Our method

Independence you can audit.

How the HR Tech Matchmaker scores vendors, what the scores mean, and the rules that keep the money away from the math.

How we score

Assessed hands-on. Verified in demos. Backed by evidence.

Every system on the platform is assessed by us, hands-on. We build each vendor profile from public information, then test it: in live product demos (we have sat through demos with the majority of the pool over the years), through client selection projects, and against evidence vendors bring us. Nothing is auto-generated, and nothing is taken on faith: a claim survives only as long as the evidence behind it.

EVERY SCORE CARRIESEvidence

What we saw and where: a demo, a document, a public page, a client project. If we cannot point at it, we do not claim it.

EVERY SCORE CARRIESA verification date

When the score was last confirmed. Scores age visibly instead of pretending to be current forever.

EVERY SCORE CARRIESA confidence level

Demo-verified sits above public-page evidence. The Verified badge means recently shown to us live. It never means endorsed.

The scale

Same items. Same questions. Same evidence bar.

Every vendor is scored on the same 100+ item capability scale across 11 categories: Core HR, Time & Absence, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Performance, Learning, Compensation, Engagement & Surveys, Analytics and more. Depth items run 0 to 4: none, basic, adequate, strong, best-in-class. Binary items are a plain yes or no. The pool covers 26 systems, and it keeps growing: global platforms and European specialists, from tools for small teams to systems serving the top end of the mid-market.

The five rules

Published. Followed. For every vendor equally.

01
Scores are never for sale.
No payment of any kind changes a score, ever.
02
The badge certifies verification, not endorsement.
Verified means demo-verified within the last 12 months. Scores can go down in a verification demo.
03
Referral terms are identical for every vendor.
And disclosed to buyers. We are financially indifferent to which vendor you choose.
04
No paid promotion of individual vendors.
Our voice is not for rent.
05
Every score carries evidence.
And a verification date, and a confidence level. Gaps are reported as gaps, never estimated away.
Where the money goes

What vendors can buy. And what they cannot.

Vendors can buy

  • A live verification demo, and the Verified badge that reflects it
  • Benchmarks and market intelligence about their own position
  • Product advisory from the buyer’s side of the table

Vendors cannot buy

  • A score, or a change to one
  • A place in anyone’s shortlist or a ranking boost
  • Our voice, or the removal of a verified weakness

Paid tiers are priced by a published formula (company stage, by headcount), identical for every vendor at a given stage, and not negotiable. Corrections are different: any vendor can challenge any claim with evidence, free, because accuracy is our duty to buyers. And yes, we also implement HR systems and hold implementation certifications, for example Personio. Certification means we know a product deeply. It changes nothing about its scores: rule 01 applies to everyone, including our implementation partners.
